Is theConsent really free?

Yes. Our Free plan is free forever for one website. It includes a basic GDPR/CCPA compliant banner, Webflow auto-injection, and respect for Global Privacy Control. The only catch is a small "Powered by theConsent" attribution link — which is removed on Pro and Agency plans.

How is theConsent different from CookieBot, Termly, or OneTrust?

theConsent is built specifically for Webflow — not retrofitted to it. Our Designer Extension lives inside Webflow so you never copy-paste code. The banner is under 9KB gzipped (5–10× lighter than competitors), served from Cloudflare's global CDN, and our pricing is up to 80% lower per site. We also include Google Consent Mode v2 on every paid plan, which most competitors lock behind enterprise tiers.

Does it work with Google Analytics and Google Ads?

Yes — theConsent fully supports Google Consent Mode v2 with all required signals: ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization, analytics_storage, functionality_storage, personalization_storage, and security_storage. We emit the consent defaults synchronously before GA4 / GTM load, so your tags fire correctly with the right consent state.

How long does setup take?

Is my site GDPR compliant just by using theConsent?

theConsent gives you the technical implementation needed for GDPR/CCPA/CPRA/LGPD compliance: consent categories, accept/reject parity, GPC honoring, GCM v2 signals, and consent logging. But compliance also requires having an up-to-date privacy policy, a Data Processing Agreement with your processors, and proper cookie disclosure. We provide the consent layer — you remain responsible for the legal side. Many users pair theConsent with a privacy policy generator.

What happens if I publish my Webflow site after changing settings?

Banner configuration is decoupled from your Webflow publish. Your visitors get the latest config on their next page load — no Webflow republish needed. You only republish in Webflow when adding/removing the script itself, which we handle via the Webflow Custom Code API.

Can I use my own custom domain for the banner script?

On Pro and Agency plans, yes — we can serve the runtime from your subdomain (e.g. consent.yoursite.com) via a CNAME. This is recommended for stricter Content Security Policy setups. Free and Starter use our shared Cloudflare CDN.

Do you store any personally identifiable information about my visitors?

No. We store an anonymous hash per visitor (a random opaque string for de-duplication), the consent map (which categories they accepted), the country code from request headers, and timestamp. We do not store IP addresses, user agents, names, or emails of your visitors. Our Privacy Policy details everything.
